  FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
What is the difference between EXE and DNL books? What is supported in DNL that is not supported in EXE?

Please note that our software can create books in either DNL or EXE format.

DNL books require a DNL reader to read. DNL is the best and most secure format as it cannot be infected by viruses. You can also send this via email but remember to ask your potential users to download and install the latest reader from:

http://www.digitalwebbooks.com/reader/

EXE books are simply the DNL with the reader built in so do not require the DNL reader to use. This is useful for putting onto CDROM where you cannot depend on the end-user having the DNL reader installed already. Please also note: we have a cdrom autorun sample which installs the reader onto the end-user's PC and can run DNLs from CDROM. Please contact support via our contact page for more information about this as it requires some windows knowledge to get working.

Please note that EXE books cannot support features which can modify the book itself, e.g. editable text and editable images and DRM, otherwise functionality is the same.
